The springs install with an S-Hook to the stationary brackets that hang the horizontal tracks from the ceiling, while the other end of the spring is connected to a pulley and safety cable assembly installed on the garage door. As the torsion springs close the door, extension springs extend, lightening the load of the door. As the door opens the springs retract to help the operator pull the door upwards. When in the open position, the initial spring tension holds the door in place on the horizontal tracks.
