How to Read Torsion Spring Product Titles & SKUs

Action’s torsion springs are labeled using a consistent naming structure, making it easy to confirm specifications quickly — whether you’re browsing online or double-checking an order.

Product titles and SKUs follow the same order:

1. Inside Diameter (ID) – listed first
2. Wire Size – shown as a decimal (example: .283)
3. Spring Length – measured in inches
4. Wind Direction – LW (left-wound) or RW (right-wound)

Example:

2" ID, .283 Wire, 42" LW Torsion Spring

SKU: 2-283-42L

This tells you the spring has:

• A 2" inside diameter
• .283 wire size
• 42" length
• Left-hand wind

Cones Installed vs. No Cones (NC)

Action offers garage door torsion springs with cones installed as well as no cones options.

• Springs marked “NC” or “No Cones” do not include cones
• NC options are ideal for customers who already have reusable cones or require custom configurations
