The Storm Shield 2 Peel and Stick Threshold Seal is every homeowner's best friend. This durable seal installs directly on the garage floor where the door closes, and when paired with bottom weather stripping, it creates an almost impenetrable barrier.
Made from EPDM, the threshold seal withstands extreme temperatures from -40º to 150º Fahrenheit and meets California Fire Marshal and CPAI-84 flame resistance standards. Measuring 3 inches wide with a 1/2 inch hump, it fits snugly against the bottom seal of the garage door for maximum protection.
Ordering Storm Shield:
Storm Shield Peel and Stick Threshold Seal is sold by the foot. Simply measure the width of your garage door and add that measurement to your cart. Installation is easy—just follow these steps:
- Lay Storm Shield® from vertical track to vertical track. Cut if necessary to fit between the tracks.
- Mark where the seal needs to be notched by aligning the end with the vertical track and mark the inside edge.
- Align the Storm Shield® with the jamb against the vertical track and mark the backside of the vertical track.
- Cut to notch the Storm Shield®, repeating for the other side.
- Clean the garage floor with acetone or Pine-Sol®. If using Pine-Sol®, ensure the floor is completely dry before applying the seal.
- Snap a chalk line across the garage opening where the door meets the floor.
- Install the Storm Shield® along the chalk line, removing the liner and pressing the seal down 6-8 inches at a time. Once in contact with the concrete, the seal cannot be repositioned.
- Lower the garage door onto the Storm Shield® and allow 24 hours for the adhesive to set. Use a small roller for better adhesion.
