Why Invest in the EZ ZIP Push-In Coiled Bottom Seal Kit?

Why Invest in the E-Z ZIP Push-In Coiled Bottom Seal Kit?

When you purchase the E-Z ZIP push-in coiled bottom seal kit from Action Industries, you’re getting a retainer and bottom door seal built into one to save you money on shipping and time during installation. This two-in-one retainer comes in a roll to cut shipping costs and is pre-threaded so you can skip the grueling process of sliding a seal through an entire retainer. Read below to learn the many benefits our patent-pending seal offers as well as how to install it upon arrival.

What Are the Benefits of an E-Z ZIP Bottom Seal?

With the E-Z ZIP 1-piece bottom seal, there’s no need to waste space storing lengthy retainers or paying high freight costs to get them. Unlike other retainers that can span some 18 feet and cost $600-$800 to ship, the E-Z ZIP comes in a compact 100-foot roll that drastically reduces shipping costs. Beyond shipping, the roll is easy to store in trucks and shops alike so businesses can have it on hand without sacrificing storage. A garage door can be sealed with a 2-inch or 1-3/8 inch seal size with many lengths to choose from. With such a simple assembly and cost advantages over standalone bottom seals, the E-Z ZIP Kit is a great investment for you and your team by putting the most cost-effective, trouble-free weatherstripping in your arsenal.

What Material Is E-Z ZIP Made From?

Action’s E-Z ZIP bottom seal retainers are made at our US facilities using high-quality vinyl. Vinyl is made from PVC (polyvinyl chloride), which is used in many different products due to it being a versatile and durable material. Polyvinyl chloride is produced by polymerization of the vinyl chloride monomer. This creates chains out of the monomers called polymers, which are then processed into plastics like PVC for a cost-effective and quality material.

What Is the Design of the E-Z ZIP Seal?

The E-Z ZIP has two sections: the Rigid (retainer) section and the Flex (bottom seal) section. The retainer section of the E-Z ZIP goes against the bottom of the garage door, and is mounted using fasteners. The bottom seal section protects garages against weather, moisture, pests, and dirt. The Flex section is U-shaped with the push-in barb going into the retainer section to make the installation as straightforward as possible. The Rigid retainer section also has notches, making it easy to tell where the screws should go during installation. Once you’ve uncoiled your seal, just mount it using the included self-tapping fasteners.

How to Install E-Z ZIP Weather Seal

Action’s E-Z ZIP seals are simple enough for any DIY enthusiast. Before you begin the installation, you will need a tape measure, marker, hacksaw, a pair of scissors, and a drill with a Phillips head. Having another person will come in handy to help, but you can complete a solo installation with a pair of clamps, such as bar clamps.

  1. Measure the bottom of your garage door with the tape measure to determine where you need to trim the bottom seal.
  2. Lay the E-Z ZIP flat using any weighted object. Mark the length just measured onto the retainer and bottom seal using a marker.
  3. Using the hacksaw, cut through the rigid PVC. Then use the scissors to trim the flexible end to make a straight cut.
  4. Raise the garage door to around shoulder height or a height you're comfortable working. If you have an extra set of hands have someone grip the seal and help you hold it against the bottom of the door. If the installation is being done solo, use the clamps to help you secure the seal as you work your way across.
  5. Using the drill, Phillips drill bit and the screws included in the kit, start on one end and work your way across placing a screw about every six inches.
  6. With the rigid side secure to the bottom of the garage door, push in the flexible seal. Start on one end and work to the other side.
  7. Close the garage door to test the seal. If it holds, you have successfully installed the E-Z ZIP!

E-Z ZIP Pro Tips

  1. To remove the product from the box without damage, try to cut a slit in the side of the box, then pull out the materials for premeasurement.
  2. To make the initial part of installation easier, use larger clamps to hold one side up while starting to install the other side to control the curling of the E-Z ZIP.
